COFFEE TALKS: Arabica vs. Robusta
At Vascobelo, we believe that every cup of coffee tells a story — one that starts with the beans. In this blogpost, we will adreess the biggest differences between Arabica and Robusta coffee beans.
Arabica:
Known for its smooth, delicate taste, Arabica beans make up about 70% of the world's coffee. Grown at higher altitudes, these beans are more sensitive to the environment, resulting in complex, nuanced flavors with a sweet and softer taste. The lower caffeine content allows for a balanced, less bitter taste. The blossom time for arabica beans is between 7 to 9 months, and it’s price is higher than the average. At Vascobelo, the blend Le Roi, Le Comte and L’Empereur are composed by Arabica beans.
Robusta:
Robusta beans are bold, strong, and full-bodied. Grown at lower altitudes, these beans are more resilient, containing nearly twice the caffeine of Arabica. Robusta beans have a stronger and earthy taste, with a hint of bitterness and a deeper, more intense aftertaste — perfect for espresso lovers who crave that rich, robust kick. It’s blossom time is between 9 to 11 months, and the price of this type of coffee bean is lower than average. Vascobelo’s blends Le Comte and Le Chevalier are composed by Robusta coffee beans.
